CARB's Clean Truck Check Program

You could listen to this 37 minute video put out by CARB or follow along below to keep your truck compliant.

STEP 1

Register your Vehicle(s) on CARB's website by either clicking on the link at the top of the page or below. There is a $30 fee per vehicle registered to CARB.


Exceptions to the Clean Truck Check Program: 

STEP 2

Starting July 1, 2024, every Diesel Truck over 14,000 pounds will need an Opacity Smoke Test (Engine Year 2012 or older) or OBD Testing (Engine Year 2013+).

Which means 1 for 2024 and 2 in 2025 per vehicle. But in 2027 CARB has stated that will change to 4 times per year for OBD vehicle(s) registered in California. 

Out-of-state and Out-of-Country vehicles are tested based on the last number of the VIN.

NST (Notice to Submit Testing)

If you have received an NST (Notice to Submit to Testing), please e-mail me to schedule an appointment. There is a 30 day window to submit a Passed emissions test (Opacity Smoke Test or OBD) to CARB. 

Be certain that the Emissions Control Label is visible (Usually on top of the engine) or call your local dealer to order a replacement label. Their fee is between $180 to $200.
